Got This at The Home Depot

I've never been good with plants, it's true. I even took FFA and that didn't help. I can arrange flowers to look pretty good, even made a really pretty wreath..... but when it comes to growing and keeping plants alive- I struggle. So instead of overcoming that struggle, I'm choosing to go around it....

Good thing I think Cacti are pretty!! (Cacti? Is that correct?) I got one similar to this in the summer, and it's still alive!! So when I someday have a home and yard don't expect much in the way of landscape, some Cacti and pretty rocks will be the extent of my gardening and flower bed planning. And maybe I'll throw in some cool flower pots...

Grateful for You

I have so many great people in my life that I am grateful for, I have the biggest friend collection around. :) Friends I live with that I call Family. Friends I work with; Grown Up and Pint Sized. Friends I see lots and friends I see occasionally. This post is for you, you lucky people I call friends...... lucky or unlucky BWAH HA HA!!

I wish I could name every person I love and their amazing qualities (which is why I'm friends with them, because who wants to be friends with a stick in the mud?) But I can't so if you aren't on here I'm sorry and maybe I catch you in Grateful for You part TWO!!

Brittany Hammond: She once told me that whoever I ended up marrying is going to be the luckiest guy ever and probably won't deserve me (because I was telling her about making bread or something silly like that) yeah the more I think about it the more I realize that statement is meant for her. This girl is always happy, always positive, always sweet and just a joy to be around. Who wouldn't want to be around a sunny, positive person.

Mindy Singleton: Man I love chatting with this real life Barbie. She reminds me of my fun cousins, the ones who you feel like the popular kid when you are with them. So glad I know this mom and get to take care of her sweet little girl. (sweet until she decides to give you "the glare") something she reserves for certain boys. I think she is on to something though, those boys work REALLY hard to win her love...... hmmm, note to self.

Michaela: My black sister who isn't really black but everyone thinks she is. Seriously she has been asked my many if she is black, or what race she is. LOVE her, we can bond over knitting or cats (because we are 80 years old) Big Bang Theory, cute boys, Psych, the Middle, basically any show that is funny. Love hearing her boy drama and bragging about her running skills...... yeah this girl can RUN!! Love ya sis!!

Rynn: Little girl in my daycare who I hope my future daughter will be just like. She dresses in crazy outfits; i.e. black boots, pink tutu and big read t-shirt. She runs into things a lot (this is so me and I figure my poor future kids may well inherit my graceful-ness) but this girl is tough (something I wish I was) and very sweet.

This is it for now, maybe I'll do part 2 someday.

I Never Post Anymore

I know I know, I never post anymore (HEY!! that's the title of my post) Admitting you have a problem is the first step right. Here is a little update (I say little because I have more pictures but uploading these has taken like 45 min already so I will get the second have come Christmas)
In no particular order:

Ashley, Curtis, Taly and Major came to visit!!

A Pool Party!!

The non swimmers, enjoying the food. There was of course chips and salsa. :)

Some of the swimmers

not a bad turn out. After the whole birthday mess (not getting pictures) I was very careful to make sure I got pictures (also proof that I can throw a party!!)

Thanks to our lovely sponsers the Warren's for the use of their pool!!

Sanded A Dresser

Before and After

The sander got me while I was changing the sanding pad

The finished product!! YAY!!

I was visiting the Lowrys and they were in the process of loading this up to take to DI. Rachel jokingly asked if I wanted a dresser. Joke was on her cuz I DID!! I sanded it with a metal sander and the sparks FLEW!! Literally, sanding metal means sparks. I love the end result and it was super fun to work on. :)

A Perfect Home

What makes a perfect home; is it the square footage, the state of the art electronics, number of rooms?

A Perfect Home is:
  • Doors left open because everyone is in and out.
  • Neighbors popping in randomly, bringing treats or just wanting to chat.
  • Children running around, those that belong there and those that are there just to play.
  • Full of stories and laughter.
  • Full of service and good examples.
  • A place to let your creativity grow.
  • Shared with others.

Friday was the Funniest day ever!!

Friday morning I slept in pretty late, I'd been up late knitting these-

I decided for easter to make little knit bracelets for my sisters with these cute chickies on them (the extra blue one is for a headband for my friend Traci since I never finished her hat)

So I slept in till Eleven and then after quickly getting ready I went with my Dad, Sister and Brother to the Carl Bloch exhibit. http://www.carlbloch.com/ Such amazing works of art, I loved them all and loved reading the captions to learn about what he was trying to convey and special things in the picture to look for.

Couldn't take Pics of the Carl Bloch Exhibit but this was another exhibit in the Museum!!

BOOKS!!!

On the way to drop younger brother at older brother's house we all stopped for some In'n'Out YUM!! Second time in 2 days though lol.

Burger Bracket was also this day and it was at Hires in Salt Lake (I think I will do a seperate post about this since it deserves a lot of detail) This is my friend Mel's creation and I need to do it justice. On the way to burger number 2 for Friday I picked up some friends - first Jessica then Diane, last but not least was Brittany. I went a new way to Brittany's house and went too far south, Diane thankfully noticed and we figured we would just turn around. Easier said than done- I was in my neighbor's truck and I saw a dirt driveway right next to a cement one and figured I'd just pull partway onto the dirt side and turn around onto the cement one. I didn't factor in the rain and snow from the last couple days. We slid A LOT!!

Sideways and forward and all over the place we slid.... I freaked out and they just laughed. Finally I found the 4 wheel drive and we were able to back out of the driveway. (not before I ruined it) We picked up Brittany and drove back to view the damage and get this pic. One of these nights the 3 of us plus Brittany are going to take leave them cookies and an apology note)

  • catch up on 30 rock

some may take longer than others - but here is to optimism

It's Only Inappropriate if I Lick It.....

I'm sure this isn't the best title of this post, but when I think of Randy Noorlander this is what I think about. It all happened when my friend Melissa and I were driving her Dad to Chemotherapy. Here is the story:

Melissa and her sister Mariah were driving their Dad (Randy) to Chemo and asked if I wanted to come along, after they dropped him off with their mom they were going to do some shopping. On the ride to the hospital I was telling about how my phone background always got some smart aleky comments, especially at church. (it's a picture of Jacob Black Shirtless). One guy in particular asked me, "Isn't that inappropriate?" Her Dad always joking, even when in pain, responded, "You should say it's only inappropriate if I lick it." I'll never forget that summer day, all of us laughing and me promising to say that next time.

On February 14th Randy Noorlander lost his battle with Cancer. Leaving behind a loving wife and 4 amazing kids. One of which I am lucky to call a friend. What an inspiration this man and his family has been to me. He coached his kids soccer teams since they were little and my sisters were lucky to be on their teams. His funeral was filled with people telling about how he served his whole life and how much he cared for others. Here's to you Randy, you will never be forgotten.

I've been putting it off

I was having such a blast at my party I didn't get one single picture!! The only proof that more than my siblings and 2 cutouts showed up is a video my buddy Marcos shot of 2 friends dancing the "Pool Dance". Therefore I've been putting off blogging in hopes that one of the many people at my party (dead serious guys, I have more than 2 friends) had taken some for me. It has yet to happen so I will blog about it....

Tomorrow.

Getting Organized

Wow I think this is officially the longest I have ever gone between blog posts..... Life is BUSY. I rarely get to do things I WANT to do. But I still manage to sneak in things here are there, like

  • FINALLLY saw Tangled and LOVED it (Thanks Rachel for being a spur of the moment person

  • Knitted a straw house, will begin construction on the stick house next week, this week is crazy because......

  • Getting ready for my party, yep I'm super cool and throwing myself a Birthday party this weekend lol

  • Finished 5 of the 7 Harry Potter books (Mostly that was accomplished over the Christmas Break)

Life at work has been a little crazy, but I did manage to fix that a little....

WHO KNEW!! You can organize the little babies into their very own laundry basket!! I don't know if the Babies thought it was funny but Addie and I sure did!!
