Marriage Survival Kit

My super cute friend Lauren Coombs is getting Married!! :) Congratulations to her, couldn't love her more than I do, we were best friends growing up. When I found out I started toying with some ideas for a shower gift. I was watching Friends and it was the episode where Ross gets a new apartment and Pheobe brings him a housewarming gift. I was laughing and laughing when I realized I could tweak the gifts and change it from housewarming to marriage survival. Pheobe gives Ross these objects:
Bread - So he'll never go hungry
Salt - So his life will always have flavor
A Candle - For the bathroom, because well, you know.....
FUNNY HUH??
I decided to incorporate this into a cute gift so here is the finished product....

All the ingredients needed for a great marriage, includes:
Salt - So their life always has flavor
Bread - So they never go hungry
Candle - To keep your future bright
Pepper - To Spice things up
Glue - To keep them together
and Handcuffs - For the Bedroom, because, well you know.....

Her Wedding colors are Brown and Yellow (Obviously not a Davis Graduate lol). I got to get out my MOD PODGE!! (I love to Mod Podge by they way).

The Case of the Missing Horses

The Case of the Missing Horses

It was my mom's birthday, Ashley had taken the day off to do some shopping with her. We had the brilliant/evil idea to steal our younger sisters Legos. The past couple weeks they had been building these elaborate Lego structures. Our original plan was to steal the structures but realized they would be to difficult to transport without the proper equipment. We decided stealing their Lego Horses was the right way to go. First things first, give the Horses a chance to let their loving owners know how scared they were. (And they were VERY scared!!) We then wrote the ransom note, more specifically Ashley wrote the note. She disguised her handwriting so well the girls were convinced it was me!! Ashley then took the Horses home to wait until we got our money. When she returned from shopping the girls were home and told her the story about how I stole their Horses, totally convinced I was the only one in on the ploy. Ashley put one of the Horses in the driveway, hoping they would realize she was in on it..... that poor hostage was run over sadly. It wasn't until later that night that, after we both told them I didn't have the animals that they realized Ashley was in on it. Here are some pictures, evidence if you will.......

This would be the picture we left for the girls..... hope they pay up soon, they look sad!!

Michaela's blackboard, it holds the information from their on-going investigation. It also holds the blackmail note. Before you feel too sorry for them realize that I came home to 2 threatening letters. Both demanding they get their Horses back so I could get my Cat Gucci back. Rissa also made a SCARY movie, in the same style of the Joker..... complete with an EVIL laugh!! Luckily Gucci was just in their room. I'll keep you all updated on the information from this investigation.

So Happy I Could Cry

This morning I did something I have been wanting to do for a while but have been too scared to do. I switched my winter and summer wardrobe!!! It seems like every time I switch them it snows a couple days later. I am hoping that it doesn't snow, if it does sorry everyone!! :) I love that the weather is so great, it makes me want to go hiking (not that I hike a lot or ever), go running, go on a picnic and any other random spring type activities. I love warm weather so much and I am having the best week driving with my windows rolled down, wind messing up my hair, singing along with the radio. This week has been so amazing and it is only Tuesday!!

Soda Pop Cake

Today is Friday the 13th, it is also my Mom's Birthday!! I had a hard time deciding what to get her for a gift, but thank heaven for nap time!! I seem to get my craftiest ideas at nap time, it really works out great. I was thinking to myself what should I get her, I was thinking something crafty or decorative for her room..... nothing was really coming to me. Then it hit me!!.. my mom LOVES Coke why not do something cute with it!! It is her favorite drink ever, when we were younger she would try to bribe us with a coke. I realized a Coke Cake would be cute (I stole the idea from the diaper cakes that are so cute and popular) Here are some pictures......

The beginning of a Soda Pop Cake.

She loves Dark Chocolate so I added these to make it Extra Yummy!!

The finished product!! Not too bad if I say so myself.

Learning Every Day

Many of you know I work at Bountiful High, and hopefully everyone who does knows that I love my job. Some days it gets crazy and hectic, but there isn't anywhere I would rather be. One of the many reasons I love working with children is the little lessons they teach you. A couple examples:

1. Emma
She isn't at the Daycare, she is a girl that I would babysit. I love this girl and her family to death. One night I was babysitting and going through the bedtime routine. I had tucked little Max into his crib, checked on Sam in his parents room, and then decided to separate Casey and Emma until Emma was asleep. (she and Casey were sharing a room and past experience showed they liked to giggle, like all little girls do.) I told Casey to read in the family room until Emma was asleep then she could come in and lay down. When Emma was informed of the plan she got the saddest look on her face, and asked if it was because she was a bad girl. I felt bad seeing the guilt in her eyes and said, "Oh no sweetie, you two just like to talk and giggle so I thought I would just separate you tonight so you could get some sleep." This made her even sadder!! "I'm such a bad girl, I try and try to be a good girl, I pray to heavenly father to be good, but it's just so hard!!" It was really hard to hide the tears then!! (yes I teared up, who wouldn't) I hugged her and did my best to convince her that she wasn't a bad girl, and to this day that story makes me laugh and also be so thankful for Emma.

2. Addie
This happened today and prompted this post, Addie had asked me after lunch if we could do stamps. I promised her we could after nap. (I always tell myself not to promise to play with certain toys after nap because I forget so often!!) After nap, and after snack was over and cleaned up I went to get the stamps out, so proud that I had remembered. I then decided to let Addie pick which stamps we use since it was her idea. I went over and said, "Addie, come here please." She followed and I told her that once she had her socks and shoes on she would get to choose the stamps we got to play with!! She was so excited and I had gotten her shoes on and was getting her first shoe on when she stopped and looked at me and said, "Miss Jacque, that was very nice of you. You came over and got me, and told me I could pick the stamps. Thanks for coming to get me, that is Choosing The Right!!" I didn't really know what to say, but it was stopped me for a second. This was a wonderful reminder that children watch everything you do and everything you say. I am thankful for this little girl and her mom for teacher her this simple principle.

I want to add more because I really do learn so much from all my little kids and I will add more. These are 2 that I had to add right away though. They really make me smile and remind me that I have the best job ever!!
